These rasters are derived entirely from the colorized point cloud — no photogrammetry, no image stitching. Every pixel is a real LiDAR return carrying its own colour, projected straight down, so the whole 139-acre site is covered including the northern strip where the source photos never finished uploading. Georeferencing is inherited from the cloud: NAD83(2011) / Alabama West (ftUS) + NAVD88 height, which is the same coordinate system the survey works in — these drop straight onto existing linework in CAD.

Notes for the drafter

  • Coordinate system is already correct. NAD83(2011) / Alabama West (ftUS), NAVD88 heights, US survey feet. Insert as-is — no reprojection, no scaling.
  • Trace from intensity first, check against RGB. Intensity has no shadows, so pavement edges under tree canopy stay visible where the colour image goes dark.
  • Hillshade catches what both images miss — curb faces, ditch lines, and grade breaks show as shading even where the surface colour is uniform.
  • This is a DSM-based projection, not a true ortho. Tall vertical faces can lean slightly and dense canopy hides ground beneath it. For hard-surface planimetrics it is accurate; for anything under tree cover, verify against the point cloud.
  • The bare-earth surface is machine-classified and was scored against this job's own survey shots: median error +0.01 ft, RMSE 0.66 ft over 539 points, and 0.28 ft on property corners alone. About 12% of shots differ by more than a foot, and nearly all of those are under tree canopy. Trust it on hard surfaces; check it under cover.
  • CONT-*, BUILDING-LIDAR and ASPHALT-LIDAR were traced by machine, not field-located. They are on their own layers on purpose — correct them and promote onto the standard layers, so it stays obvious what has been checked. Roughly 10 of the 136 building shapes are tree clumps (ragged rather than rectangular), and pavement edges run narrow where the surface is light-coloured.
